John came back from Pennsylvania to settle in Burford, Ontario after his father's death. He is mentioned in the will of his aunt Susannah (1784-1856) as being the son of her brother Philip.

This poor Peter is supposed to have died drunk and from the effects of drink. He was an old bachelor and was found dead in his house, sitting on a chair with his head hanging over the back-rest as if broken.
