Peter "poor peter" Shaver is the 5th child of Mary Magdalene Hone and the 9th child of John William Shaver (1739).

This poor Peter is supposed to have died drunk and from the effects of drink. He was an old bachelor and was found dead in his house, sitting on a chair with his head hanging over the back-rest as if broken.

Notes of H. Duff: "Peter Shaver was 10 years old when his father died. He never married and lived with his mother all his life. He died Jan. 3, 1834, aged 47. He collapsed on his way home that night and died of exposure. He was buried on the farm."

Gravestone, Bethesda United Church Cemetery: "Here lies the body of/poor Peter Shaver/native of New Jersey/born Aug. 3rd Anno Dom 1786/departed this life/the 3rd Jan. 1834/aged 47 years/and 5 months."
